How to read it at the table.
Chapters are the five scenes. Touch one and the music crossfades to it; touch the playing one again to rest it. Each remembers its place.
The passage is intensity. Draw your finger down the lines: the blood follows, and the music darkens a band at a time after your hand settles.
The seal plays one sound that fits the moment, and its words change with the scene and the band. Touch it again to cut that sound.
Lesser rites hold stingers, loops under the music, single cues, the telephone and the medium's voice.
Every line is spoken to screen readers as scene, band and name. Reduced motion stills the ink and the flame. Each sign also has words; colour is never the only mark.

Music, dread and silence for the table, in five chapters.
On opening, a cracked gramophone voice reads one line: “Do not read past this page aloud.” Turn it off under Sound in the notes.
